Package Holidays for Beginners

I am looking for information that would help a beginner interested in travel holidays. What companies do you like to get your package holidays through? Do you save a lot by going the package route? I am looking into going on a trip to italy and I think I would rather use a package this time around and could use some help to get started.

I don't honestly know about regular trips and packages but I've been saving for REI adventure travel tours, which are awesome. Kayaing around Croatia, biking in Vietnam and Cambodia... They have all sort of trips to places all over the world and they have different difficulty levels from beginners to advanced. They aren't all that cheap - some are reasonable - and they don't include airfare, but you do get a lot for your money.

We went on our first package this year to a resort in Myrtle Beach, SC. I can honestly say I really loved not having to pay extra for every little thing. All of our meals were included, resort fees included, room service.. just about anything and everything you wanted to do was included in one price. It really helped with the budgeting of the vacation.
